Reality TV and Child Sex Slavery

Stephen Baldwin

Stephen Baldwin

I received an email earlier this week from the organization Love146. For those of you that don’t know Love146 works toward the abolition of child sex slavery and exploitation through prevention and aftercare. I wanted to pass this info on to all of you reality TV buffs.

Beginning Monday, June 1st NBC launched a month long reality showed titled “I’m a celebrity get me out of here” in which celebrities compete against one another to become king or queen of the (Costa Rican) jungle.  Each celebrity is playing for a charity of his/her choice. The catch is, America actually gets to vote who stays in the jungle and who goes home. The longer a celebrity stays the more money will be donated to his/her charity. Stephen Baldwin chose to play for Love146…If you’re an avid reality show junkie consider voting (toll free or online) during the duration of the show. The longer Stephen stays the more money and awareness will be raised to serve children.

So this month as you sit on your couch watching celebrities eat bugs and complain about the humidity take the time to vote for Stephen Baldwin and help the great cause of Love146.

Free “Not For Sale” Audiobook

In Resources on February 10, 2009 at 11:38 am

This month, Not For Sale has partnered with Christian Audio to bring you a FREE download of the Not For Sale Audiobook (a $25 value).

Not For Sale is the book that recounts David Batstone’s investigative journey around the world as he uncovers the global slave trade.

“[It] exposes the alarming rise of one of the great moral crises of the day, human slavery. His well-written accounts of victims and survivors will inspire you to join the growing twenty-first century abolitionist movement.”

- Ambassador John Miller, director of the U.S. State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons.

This is a great resource not only for those already involved in the fight against human trafficking, but a great way to inform those who don’t know much about it. So, spread the word.
